The Prime Minister and the Heart Foundation has announced an exciting new campaign to help Australians get walking.
The Prime Minister’s One million steps asks participants to walk towards 1 million steps or 100 group walks in twenty weeks. As they walk, they’ll be rewarded for reaching step or group walk milestones – all walkers who reach 1 million steps or 100 group walks, and they’ll enter the major prize draw to win an Auswalk holiday.
The Prime Minister’s One million steps begins 25 March and goes to 11 August. Taking part is easy:
- individual walkers can simply download the Heart Foundation Walking app. Once they register, the app will sync with their step counter (Apple Health, Google Fit or Fitbit) and will automatically enter the walker into prize draws when they reach major milestones
- Group walkers can take part with their Heart Foundation Walking group. To join in, Walk Organisers must choose ‘yes’ to participating in the Prime Minister’s One million steps on each walker’s profile. Walk Organiser will record their group walks as usual, and when each walker meets a major milestone they’ll be entered into the prize draws. For more information, checkout the Website User Guide.
Spread the word, and encourage your community to get walking. The Prime Minister’s One million steps provides a fun, free and motivating way for people in your community to introduce activity into their lives – and keep walking for life.
